Faith Formation for
Middle School

In a recent study, adults were asked whether they would go back to Middle School if given the chance.  less than 25% of people interviewed said yes.  If you have a middle school youth in your home you know that this is an understatement!  Middle Schoolers today are under more pressure than ever before. They face pressure to succeed, pressure to excel in sports, pressure to be "cool" and so much more!  Yet Middle School is also a formative time.  Youth are developing in many different ways...including the ability to think abstractly.  As this ability grows they may begin thinking about faith as their own...and they probably will have some BIG questions.
How do I faithfully parent my middle school youth?
Our hope at Hope Lutheran is that your middle school youth will find the Church community a safe place to wrestle with big questions while forming life long friendships...both with other middle school youth and with caring adults.  We offer Sunday School classes and Confirmation programs...as well as fun social outings such as Laser Tag, Bowling and more.  Check out the In Person section of this site to see what is coming soon at Hope.
An ongoing study, called the National Study of Youth and Religion has recently shown that the only way that religious practices and faithfulness sticks with a young adult is because it was modeled in their home by their parents.  Because we realize that you may not feel equipped to share faith at home, we have designed a page specifically to help you with this process!  In the "At Home Activities" section you will find expertly researched information about modeling faith at home...and also you will find activities from a variety of sources that will help you faithfully parent your child.

Finally, in our additional resources section, you will find links to books, articles and more that will allow you to continue to enhance your own personal faith so that you can model it for your youth.

These opportunities are provided for you and your family to attend in order to grow in your faith. These may take place at Hope Lutheran Church or at an off site location, but they require attendance at the event in order to gain anything from them.  In Person events may include Sunday School, Stepping Stones events, Small Group meetings, Bible Studies, Confirmation classes and much more.

2)  At Home Activities
These opportunities are provided for you and your family to participate in at your own time in your own space.  Click on the links above to discover helpful websites that will give you lots of ideas.  Also pay attention to the suggested idea of the week as each week we will provide a new faith formation resource for each age group.
At Home activities for adults may include video clips, online bible lessons, opportunities to dive further into the scriptures for the week and more!
3)  Additional Resources
These are suggested resources to support you on your faith journey.  In each category you will find recommended books that you can purchase, online journal and news articles, blogs, and other helpful tools.
